If you buy the fresh herbs that come in a flowerpot and cut them off near the base, will they grow back?

I bought basil and chives and cut them a few inches from the base to use them for a recipe. If I keep the pots and water them, could the herbs grow back? How should I care for them? Thanks!
How often should I water them?

I can see buying fresh herbs when I can pruchased the dried herbs. Is there that big of a difference?

I’m a college student and I like trying new recipes from time to time. I don’t see the point in wasting money on fresh herbs that I’m only going to use maybe twice then have a ton of waste. Dried herbs in the shakers last a lot longer. Whats the big difference between using fresh and dried herbs like parsley, thyme and rosemary?

I am looking for a “scratch” recipe for tomato sauce?

I am a chef but would like to have some input from other people too. I have just come back from the market with a bushel of Roma tomatoes and three large bunches of fresh basil. I am thinking Tomato, huge amounts of basil and garlic, a robust red wine (like chianti or valpolecello), chili pepper, and red bell pepper. Anyone have a tried and true, authentic recipe like this? Do you think I should roast the garlic and peppers first? Let me know! (Preferably no canned or bottled ingredients and only fresh herbs and spices. ) Thank you all – I’m sure I’ll get some wonderful ideas!

How long are kitchen spices and herbs fresh??

How long do spcies and herbs keep their freshness? They do not have an expiration date on them; so, what is the trick to telling if they are fresh and strong enough to use in a recipe?
Just smell them?? Can they go bad, where it is not best to use them?

Anyone out there has a unique mash patotatoe recipe to go along with turkey?

My family is having turkey on X-mas day and I’m in charge of cooking the mash potatoe dish. I’m looking for a recipe with a “twist”. Previous years, I ‘ve added sour cream, cottage cheese, and cream cheese. Also, what spices or fresh herbs compliment a mash potatoe dish?
